Powerball Jackpot Raised to $1 Billion Ahead of Wednesday Night Drawing

Due to strong ticket sales, the Powerball jackpot for the Wednesday, August 12 drawing was officially RAISED to a staggering $1 Billion with an estimated cash value of $433.1 million. This is the 8

largest Powerball jackpot of all time, and the largest lottery jackpot of 2026.

Wednesday night’s drawing will be the 44 drawing in the current jackpot run. The game record for most consecutive drawings in a jackpot run is 47. Powerball was last won on May 2 in both Florida and Texas.

"The growth of this jackpot reflects an extraordinary level of player interest,” said Stephen Durrell, Powerball Product Group Chair and Kansas Lottery Executive Director. “Ticket sales exceeded expectations and increased more than 86% compared to the previous Monday drawing. We're also continuing to see strong participation from both new players in the United Kingdom and millions of Americans who join in as the jackpot reaches the $1 billion mark."

Powerball has been hit five times in 2026, including the $143 million prize split between winners in Kansas and Indiana on April 6. Tickets start at $2 per play, with the option to add the Powerplay Multiplier to your ticket for an additional $1 per play. Powerball is available at every Kansas Lottery retailer.

There are other jackpots that can be won on Wednesday night, including the $2.5 million Lotto America jackpot. Also drawing will be Super Kansas Cash, a Kansas-only game with a current jackpot of $725,000. Players will need to purchase their tickets before 8:59 p.m. on draw days to be eligible to win.
