Yes. You do not need to be a U.S. citizen to play or to claim a prize. Non-residents will be required to provide an address outside of the U.S., and at least 30 percent of the prize amount (25 percent Federal, 5 percent State) will be automatically deducted for mandatory income withholding taxes. Credit cards and debit cards are accepted for payment by our new vending machines.
Kansas joined with other states in the Multi-State Lottery Association, which oversees Powerball, Lotto America and 2by2, and with other lotteries in the Lucky for Life and Mega Millions consortiums, so we may offer larger prizes and faster-growing jackpots to our players and produce additional revenue.
The Kansas Lottery is a state agency with approximately 85 employees involved in financial, legal, operational, sales and marketing, security and other day-to-day functions. The Kansas Lottery is supervised by an Executive Director. The Lottery is overseen by a five-person Lottery Commission that consults with and advises the Executive Director. The commissioners are appointed by the governor to serve alternating four-year terms.
No, employees and family members of Lottery employees are restricted from purchasing Kansas Lottery tickets or claiming a winning Lottery ticket in Kansas.
Lottery proceeds are placed into the State Gaming Revenues Fund and then distributed to various other funds. The Kansas Legislature determines how Lottery revenues are distributed. Since the Kansas Lottery's start up in November 1987, through June 30, 2024, lottery ticket sales have produced more than $2.27 billion in revenues transferred to the State of Kansas. Click here to see Where the Money Goes.
NO TAX DOLLARS ARE USED TO FUND THE KANSAS LOTTERY. The Lottery is totally self-sufficient. The Lottery was started with a loan from the state for $2,843,321. The loan was repaid a full year before it was due, reflecting the success and popularity of the Lottery with the public.
By law, unclaimed prize money remains in the prize fund. It shall then be added to the prizes in subsequent Lottery games. The money always remains in the prize fund and can only be used to pay prizes.

When you select to subscribe to one or more items in your Shopping Cart, that exact item (number of tickets, add-ons, etc.) will be purchased automatically for all future draws until the subscription is cancelled.
Your first subscription payment will include the cost for the first month. After that, payments will be billed monthly, one week in advance of the next month of draws.
When purchasing tickets for draw games, those that are eligible for subscription will have subscription purchasing options available in the ticket selection screen and shopping cart:
Select the ‘Subscribe’ option after selecting ‘Buy Now’.
Select ‘Subscription’ in the Number of Draws menu when you are creating your ticket
Or, select the "Subscribe" toggle in your Shopping Cart before you checkout
Choosing any of these options will convert your purchase into a subscription.
Credit or debit cards can be used to purchase a subscription.
If you need to update the payment method associated with your subscription, please visit the Payment Methods page in your account. If you would like to pay for your subscription using a different payment method, go to the My Subscriptions page in your account, select ‘Manage Subscription’ and edit your payment method.
Available bonus funds cannot be applied to a subscription purchase. However, subscription purchases and payments can trigger applicable bonuses to be achieved.
The next available draw for your selected game will be the first draw of your subscription.
Yes, you can have multiple subscriptions for different eligible games and even multiple subscriptions for the same game.
You can view your subscriptions by signing into your account and visiting the My Account section where you can select My Subscriptions from the menu options.
Subscriptions are purchased in monthly cycles. The minimum length is one calendar month and a subscription can last indefinitely until it is cancelled.
You cannot change the numbers or number of tickets associated with an active subscription. You would need to cancel your current subscription and create a new subscription.
No, but you must be physically located within the State of Kansas to complete a subscription purchase. You must also verify your location by signing in to your account while within Kansas within 30 days of each recurring payment being due. If needed, you will receive an email reminder to confirm your location by signing in to your account.
We attempt to take payment 7 days in advance of your next cycle starting. If the payment fails, you'll receive an email explaining that we were unable to take payment and a recommendation to resolve the issue. We will attempt payment again each day until the day of the first draw of your next cycle. If we still haven't been able to take payment by this time, your subscription will be paused, and all draws in that cycle will be missed. We'll try again automatically for the following cycle. Three paused cycles in a row will result in cancellation.
Subscriptions may be paused for one or more of the following issues:
Your location was not verified within 30 days of payment being due.
The credit or debit card associated with your subscription was declined.
Your credit or debit card expired.
A responsible gaming limit being reached (except self-exclusion, which will lead to your subscription being cancelled).
If your subscription is paused, payment will be attempted again for your next draw cycle, but you may need to take action to allow payment to be taken successfully.
Yes, you can cancel your subscription by signing into your account and visiting the My Account section where you can select My Subscriptions from the menu options. Select 'manage subscription' on the one you'd like to cancel and select 'Cancel Subscription'.
Please note that any payments already made cannot be cancelled or refunded. The draws will play through until the end of your last paid cycle. Once the last draw has closed, the subscription cancellation will be complete, and no more payments will be taken.
Yes, subscription payments count towards your monthly, weekly and daily deposit limits.
If you choose to self-exclude, all of your active subscriptions will automatically be cancelled. Tickets for draws that have already been purchased as part of your subscriptions will still be valid.

If you have reward points balance, your points will remain in the account unless they expire during your self-exclusion period.
The Kansas Lottery is committed to responsible play. As part of that commitment, we will send regular emails to ensure you know the tools available to you so you can play responsibly.

The State of Kansas Setoff program is a debt collection program used by state agencies to collect debts owed to the State of Kansas. If a winner is listed in the Setoff program, all or part of the prize claimed may be used to satisfy any monies owed. For more information on the Setoff Program, you may visit this website https://admin.ks.gov/offices/accounts-reports/state-agencies/finance/setoff-program or call the Customer Call Center at (785) 296-4628 Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM (excluding observed State holidays).
Sign the back of the ticket right away! Remember, lottery tickets are bearer instruments, meaning the person who "bears" the ticket can claim it, regardless of who purchased the ticket. The Lottery advises players to sign the back of their tickets when they purchase them - even before the drawing or the ticket is played.
Prizes up to $599 may be claimed at most Kansas Lottery retail locations, or they may also be claimed at the Lottery office in Topeka. Prizes of $600 and more must be claimed at the Kansas Lottery office, either in person or by mail, and you must complete a claim form.
No. All winning Powerball, Mega Millions, Lotto America or 2by2 tickets must be validated and cashed in the state where the ticket was purchased.
Bring or mail your ticket and a completed claim form to the Lottery office in Topeka. A check will be mailed to you for the prize amount, less mandatory withholdings of 24 percent Federal tax and 5 percent State tax. You should receive your check within two weeks of claiming your ticket. You may also request an electronic deposit directly into your bank account. A voided check is required with the electronic deposit option. Taxes are withheld on all Kansas Lottery prizes of more than $5,000.
Claim forms are available at all Kansas Lottery retailers, the Kansas Lottery office in Topeka, or you may download a claim form.
A fixed percentage of every Mega Millions, Lotto America and Powerball ticket sold goes into each CASH jackpot. The cash jackpot is all the money that the lottery has on hand from the sale of tickets in the game. If a player chooses the cash option, then the lottery will pay entire cash amount to the winner (less income tax withholding amounts required by Federal and State laws).
The Lottery also offers an ANNUITY jackpot option that can help reduce taxes and offers the winner a 100% guaranteed income stream over time. If a winner elects the annuity option, then the lottery will invest the entire cash amount before taxes are deducted. The difference between the CASH jackpot and the ANNUITY jackpot is the interest earnings that build over time.
The Powerball, Mega Millions and Lotto America Annuity Jackpot invests more money for a longer period of time. The annuities are paid out in graduated amounts over 29 years (30 payments). The annual payments grow larger to keep pace with the winner's expected cost of living.
If the winner dies, the payments continue and will be placed into the winner's estate.
Super Kansas Cash jackpots are paid in one lump sum within two weeks of claiming the prize. Federal and State taxes are withheld on all lottery prizes in excess of $5,000. Federal tax is withheld at the rate of 25 percent and 5 percent is withheld for State tax. When taxes are withheld from a Kansas Lottery ticket, the player/winner will receive a W-2G tax form from the Kansas Lottery in January.
Only one individual can claim a lottery ticket. Therefore, a group would have to designate one person to claim the prize. The Lottery can then provide a form to the claimant, which lists the persons to whom winning payments were distributed. This form enables the Lottery to properly report winnings to the appropriate taxing authorities. The Lottery must receive the Multiple Winner form by December 31 of the year the prize is claimed. To download the form visit this link: Multiple Winners form.

Powerball drawings take place in Tallahassee, Florida, and are done using a draw machine, in which balls drop down into a tray. 2by2 and Lotto America drawings take place in Des Moines, Iowa. The 2by2 and Lotto America drawings are done using a random number generator. Mega Millions drawings are done in Atlanta, Georgia, using a draw machine similar to the one used for Powerball. Lucky for Life drawings are held in Hartford, Connecticut, also using a draw machine similar to the one used for Powerball. The drawings for Super Kansas Cash, Pick 3, Keno and Racetrax are done at a secured location in Topeka, Kansas. A computerized random number generator is used for those drawings.

Fast Play Games
Fast Play games come in a variety of themes and price points. Fast Play tickets are printed by Lottery terminals and self-service vending machines. Each game has its own prize structure. Play instructions are printed on each ticket. Fast Play tickets cannot be cancelled.
Some Fast Play games offer a chance to win a progressive jackpot worth thousands of dollars.
For progressive games, the jackpot begins at a set minimum value then grows with each ticket sold statewide until someone wins.
You'll find estimated jackpot amounts on the website and on the Lottery In Motion screens in retail locations. However, the actual jackpot amount that applies to your Fast Play ticket will be listed at the top of your ticket.
In progressive games, a single ticket holder is awarded the entire jackpot, minus applicable taxes.
Remember that you can win other prizes besides the jackpot on progressive games, too, so be sure to check your ticket carefully. Have it checked at your favorite retailer or on the mobile app to see if you have won a prize.
Once you purchase a Fast Play game, just follow the play instructions printed on the front of the ticket and see if you won.
At any time there can be up to 28 Fast Play games available
New Fast Play games will feature a variety of themes and play styles.
Please see the Fast Play games page for a list of all currently available Fast Play games.
Fast Play games can be purchased at any Kansas Lottery retailer, either from a store clerk or a Kansas Lottery self-service vending machine.
Using a self-service vending machine select “Fast Play games” from the home screen. The Fast Play games that are currently available will be displayed, sorted by price. Press any game to view the ticket. Insert cash and purchase the ticket.
To purchase at the register, ask the store clerk for a Fast Play ticket. All available Fast Play games should display on the LIMS monitor near the counter, sorted by price. State the games you want to purchase, and the clerk will print the ticket for you.

We want the Kansas Lottery's PlayOn® Loyalty program to be fair and equitable for all members. The program is designed to accept fifty (50) retail ticket codes per player per day.
Redeeming Points
You can redeem your loyalty points by signing into your account and visiting the PlayOn® Loyalty section where you can select Rewards from the menu options and view the items available for redemption.
There are 2 ways to view your drawing entries once you are signed into your account. From the My Account section you can select PlayOn® Loyalty History from the menu options to see your entries in the Activity tab, or you can visit the PlayOn® Loyalty section and view that specific Reward or Second Chance promotion. Once on that promotion’s details screen, simply click on the draw listed to see the number of entries you have in that drawing.
We encourage you to be active in the program. All points will expire one year after being awarded. Please see the Kansas Lottery's PlayOn® Terms and Conditions for additional information.
